Investment Clients

There are many places you can turn to for financial advice, but only an Independent Financial Adviser (IFA) is able to offer you unbiased advice on financial products across the whole market. Any other advice route will offer you limited guidance - and whilst this may be all you think you need, experience shows that when the choices are clearly explained, people recognise the value of Independent Financial Advice.

Most people would like to have an investment which is both safe (in that it will not fall in value) and which offers high returns. Unfortunately, these two requirements don’t always go hand in hand as those investments which offer high returns can just as easily drop in value as well as increase.
Therefore, sound investment planning starts with understanding what your investment aims are. Next it is vital to establish what your attitude to investment risk is. This is important for sensible investing and we can help you determine an investment strategy appropriate for your needs and the investments best-suited to your investment attitude and tax position

To ensure that portfolios achieve an acceptable level of investment diversification we will recommend use of collective investments, such as unit trusts, OEICs, investment bonds and pension funds. We will also, if applicable, recommend the use of available ISA allowances. It is important that investments are periodically reviewed. It is also important to reassess the circumstances and objectives of investors and this is why we provide an ongoing service. Both the review and assessment will be conducted on a minimum annual basis, at which time you will also be provided with a valuation of your investments.

We will provide a recommendation for changes to your portfolio to reflect the current market outlook together with your objectives, circumstances and attitude to risk. Tax efficiency will be considered as part of this review. We will also be happy to deal with any queries you may have between reviews. We consider all opportunities, analysing risks and potential returns using our extensive experience and we ensure you are kept informed every step of the way.

Make the right investment

Financial planning provides direction and meaning to your financial decisions. It allows you to understand how each financial decision you make affects other areas of your finances.

Discretionary Fund Management - We can actually manage your Investments

If you would like us to monitor the performance of your portfolio, investment strategy and choice of funds - on a continuous basis - then we can also provide you with a discretionary Investment Management Service. You might think that all Financial Advisers would do this - but, in actual fact, only a very small minority of Financial Advisers can manage your investments.

Our Investment Management Service is designed with you in mind and focuses on providing day-to-day professional management of your investments, in line with your pre-defined goals and objectives. Performance is regularly reviewed by your Financial Adviser so you can rest assured that your investments are in the right hands.
Most Financial Advisers can recommend and arrange investments for you - but can only make changes to those investments on an advisory basis (as and when they review your investments). For many firms of advisers, this might only be once a year (or even less frequently).
Managing Investments requires expertise and additional permissions from the Financial Conduct Authority - which are beyond the capabilities of most Financial Advisers. Lowson & Company have the expertise and capabilities to offer a more comprehensive discretionary Investment Management service - so we can have a direct involvement in managing your portfolio and therefore more influence on the outcome.
